VERBAL DE-ESCALATION

At its core, verbal de-escalation is a program that utilizes proven communication and body language concepts to diffuse a situation that is escalating, usually in an angry or dangerous manner, in the earliest stage possible and ideally prevents a situation from escalating in the first place.

It is almost guaranteed that at some point in your life you have observed or been a part of a minor incident or situation that suddenly ignites into a much bigger issue, sometimes even to the point of violence. When emotions run high, the potential for situations to escalate and even explode to the point of being out of control grow exponentially. Verbal de-escalation training teaches techniques and concepts that hope to prevent a situation from escalating inf the first place, but if it does, how to control that situation and not only prevent it from escalating further, but how to bring it back to all parties feeling good after the situation is over. through dignity and respect of each other.

Our first instinct as humans when dealing with other humans is to react to the situation at hand and usually to match the response. This is a natural reaction that can often times prove disastrous to our desire and ability to have a respectful interaction with one another. Verbal De-Escalation instead goes beyond these natural instincts and teaches you how to respond appropriately to a given potentially volatile situation, rather than simply reacting to it.

These skills are important in everyday life, but especially in the professional setting. These concepts go beyond just verbal communication, but to develop a deeper understanding of tone and reading of body language to better understand people and your interactions with them.

What Levels of Training Exist?

We offer multiple levels of training concepts to best suit your needs and budget. TPG can provide instructors on an as needed basis to train your staff in short sessions for a basic understanding of the concepts in as little as 4-hours. We can provide instructors for multi-day full instruction that delivers in-depth understanding of the concepts and putting them into practice. For those organizations with ever evolving needs and large amounts of staff, it may be more economical to have your Staff Training Director, or similar position, certified as an instructor for your organization as a one-time expense. We can work to fit in whatever need you may have.

4-Hour Seminar

$600.00 + Travel Expenses (per instructor)*

This seminar serves as a basic understanding of the core concepts of the program and serves as an introduction to verbal de-escalation and how to utilize the concepts in everyday situations. Great for small teams or professional service industry.

2-Day In-Depth Training

TPG Instructor Led
$3,700.00 All-In (per instructor)*

This program consists of 16 hours of training with TPG instructors to develop certification in understanding of the concepts and to put them into practice with role-plays and scenario-based team exercises. Great for public facing teams, healthcare, schools, etc.

4-Day Instructor Training

TPG Instructor Led
$6,700.00 All-In (per instructor)*

We will certify your corporate trainer as an instructor in the concepts and they can in-turn certify others in the organization as instructors. This is a great option for large companies and those with training needs that would make other options cost prohibitive.

*Costs listed are per TPG Instructor. Classes are limited to 20 attendees per instructor. An additional Instructor will be added to classes with 21 or more attendees to a maximum class size of 40. This allows for better interaction between instructors and students and to maximize student understanding of the concepts.
